One of the things I advise clients to do is make lots of mistakes.

It is the fear of making mistakes that holds so many of us back from achieving our potential. The more mistakes you make, the more chance you have of succeeding in something.

Albert Einstein said:

Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new.

Success tip

Making sales calls is one of the things few people want to do. So to overcome this fear, one of the exercises I task clients with is to draw up a chart of 100 squares. Then, every time they get a rejection, they have to cross off or colour in one square.

This forces them to focus on making the volume of calls necessary to generate 100 rejections. This helps them overcome the fear because it makes getting rejected ok.

Another great quote I love is by Thomas Edison:

I haven’t failed, I’ve just discovered 100 things that don’t work.

So the message is, just get out there and do something now, it doesn’t matter if it doesn’t work, the next thing you do may be the big thing that propels your life forward.
