Well I’m pretty happy tonight. I did my fastest 10km jog this year with no sign of the shin splint problems I was having earlier in the week.

The trick is to identify the problem as soon as it starts to happen. If you start to feel pain then stop immediately and walk – it isn’t worth the agony – believe me, I’m speaking from experience. If you continue on, you will have the pain for many months and have to stop your sporting activity to recouperate.

I knew it wasn’t my shoes causing the problem so what I did was concentrate on my running style and try to jog with a smoother action that minimised any jarring and it seems to have worked.

Happy jogging
