Not everyone is a runner. In fact, not everyone is a jogger, and some of us have let ourselves slip into a lifestyle of indulgence and neglected our exercise altogether.

When you begin from such a long way back, it is a much harder to get motivated but you will ultimately have achieved a greater success when you achieve your goal. Losing weight, particularly large amounts of weight is difficult, not because the process is hard, but because it requires a change in mindset.

This City2surf training program is designed for people who can admit that they are overweight or obese and are ready to do something about it.

If it is a long time since you’ve done any regular exercise, preparing for the City2Surf and then completing it, could literally change your life, but there are a number of obstacles that you will need to overcome.

Obstacles to your success:

Firstly, if you haven’t done any exercise for a long time and you are carrying a fair amount of weight, there is a danger of injury (or worse). Please consult your doctor before proceeding and please adhere to the advice in this training plan to avoid lasting injury.

Secondly, is the significant issue of mindset. Sticking to a training program is very difficult for most of us, myself included. This is particularly difficult if the elements are against you during the cold months of June and July (if you live in the southern part of the country as I do).  If you’ve tried dieting or you joined a gym and gave up after a few weeks, then now is the time to change ‘? and I’ll help you do that.

Finally, you will need the support of those around you. Those closest to you will either be obstacles to your success or one of your greatest reasons for you success. there is only so much support I can give you from this website, you will need the support of those around you.

About this training program

The objective over the next 10 weeks is to get you to the finish of the Sydney City2Surf and have you feeling lighter, healthier and with a great sense of pride and achievement (well deserved).

Two things you will need

First and most importantly, you will need a good pair of shoes that provide support and cushioning, secondly you will need a pedometer (these are readily available and fairly cheap).
If you do the preparation, you will have a fantastic day and feel a fabulous sense of achievement when you finish.

You don’t have to train alone.

Try to find a friend who is prepared to exercise with you and feel free to contact me. Also, please share your thoughts and training experiences with us on Facebook.
