Bushfires still out of control

The last report I read said that there were 135 confirmed dead and still around 30 unaccounted for – yet, Australia seems to have forgotten that the Victorian bushfires are still burning out of control and families living in areas in the path of fires continue  to be asked to flee their homes. My mum called tonight for a chat and told me that my sister has flown down to Melbourne yesterday to help in the effort with St Johns Ambulance for a week. Well done sis. Immediately after the worst days of the fires, there was nothing on the TV...

Making and Breaking your Routine

What sort of a routine do you have? Have you ever sat down to analyse what things you do that are habits or things that form part of your routine? The best way to change your fortune or your health is to change your routine or make new desired activities or responses into habits. This is actually very easy to do. The hard part is firstly identifying the habits you want to change, working out the desired action and then putting it into practice long enough for it to become routine – or a new habit. An odd but moving day

Today was an unusual but moving one. An old friend from Sydney and I went to a meeting this morning – it was always going to be an odd one, but no sooner had we got there, the meeting had to be postponed until later in the year. It had been a while since we’d caught up, and with nothing else planned for the day, we decided to take the day off and go to see the new World War 1 exhibit at the war memorial. Jogging in Sydney

I was in Sydney for a few days last week at a leadership coaching conference. If you think it is hard sticking to a diet or fitness routine at home, wait until you have to travel to a conference. For some reason, conference organisers seem to think all humans like to consume is bad coffee, very rich cake, cookies, tarts and lamingtons. In addition to that, the events of the conference or thing you are attending will conspire to further erode your usual routine. Such as the people who will want to chat after conference hours and surprise...

A very sad day

I got up just after 5 this morning and went off for my morning jog. The weather was cool and overcast which is such a welcome relief from the last few weeks. I fully expected the air to be thick with bushfire smoke but it was crisp and fresh. Usually when there are big bushfires around, such as those in Victoria, the smoke drifts over our way. As I jogged around the lake watching the dawn of a beautiful new day, my thoughts remain with those devistated by the fires. In my post yesterday I was moved by the news that 14 people had been confirmed...
